With the Pilot Sport 5, Michelin set to further build upon their renown for constructing tyres that can deliver a truly first in class sport performance.
Built upon the past successes of the Pilot Sport 4 & Pilot Sport 4S, the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 has been developed to include some of the latest technologies to deliver a high-end sport performance.
The Pilot Sport 5 is a high-performance tyre designed with dynamic response technology – a hybrid belt of Aramid and Nylon through the tyre – the Pilot Sport 5 ensures the best possible steering performance.
Michelin have also designed the new tyre with a ‘Dual Sport’ tread – with the outer section made up of stiffer blocks to ensure the best traction in dry conditions and the inner section comprising of larger grooves to help with traction in wet conditions.
These inner grooves were also designed to reduce the chances of aquaplaning by clearing water away from the tyre quickly and efficiently.
The tyre has also been developed with a ‘Never Slip Compound’ which, according to Michelin, the compound formulation integrates functional elastomer to grip the road - multiplying the amount of adhesion elements within the tyre’s structure.
Lifespan is an ongoing key element that Michelin wants to continually evolve. As such, the Michelin Pilot sport 5 has been constructed with different technologies to improve the life of the tyre including the use of MaxTouch construction – which allows the tyre to evenly distributes the forces of acceleration and braking evenly.
By doing so, this helps to extend a longer tread life, as the tyre will wear evenly throughout its lifespan.
At the time of the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 launch, the tyre is available in 50 size variations, with the rim size of this ranging from 17” to 21” – covering a wide selection of the
automotive industry’s most popular
car tyres sizes.
