Land Rover Car Recalls 2026: A Guide to Vehicle Recalls

If you want to ensure that your Land Rover vehicle is in the safest and most reliable condition possible, then staying up to date with the latest safety recalls is one of the best ways you can do so.

With issues ranging from safety restraints to emission compliance, Land Rover models occasionally appear in DVSA recall notices and understanding what these recalls mean can help you act quickly if your car is affected.

This guide explains how recalls work, highlights Land Rover’s recall activity across recent years, and outlines how to check your own vehicle for outstanding safety notices.

We will look to update this article with the latest Land Rover recalls to keep you informed throughout 2026 and beyond.

What Is a Vehicle Recall?

When a manufacturer identifies a safety defect or technical problem that is in need of correcting, they will issue what is known as a vehicle recall.

These issues can range from minor technical issues which don’t require immediate repairs to problems with the brakes, steering, airbags or structural components which can pose a risk to drivers.

Normally, most recalls do not require you to stop driving. Instead, the manufacturer will get in touch with instructions and provide a free repair, replacement, or software update to resolve the issue.

However, with the uptake in “stop-drive” recalls, there are some that are urgent and require you not to drive under any/most circumstances: doing so can result in a driving fine.

For vehicle safety and public protection, the DVSA monitors the UK recall landscape to ensure that manufacturers adhere to strict safety standards. It is important to note, however, that while the DVSA provides the framework for these actions, Land Rover is the entity legally responsible for the logistics of the repair process.

This includes issuing official safety notices and ensuring that all remedial work is carried out by authorized technicians to restore the vehicle to its original safety specification.

Land Rover Car Recalls 2026: What Models Have Been Recalled This Year?

The year had barely kicked off when Land Rover announced their first massive recall of 2026.

Land Rover January 2026 Recall: Passenger Airbag Safety

Range Rover Evoque vehicles built between 2019 and 2024 were recalled due to inappropriate passenger airbag deployment which could compromise safety.

A GOV.UK statement on the defect declared:

“On 2021, 2024 and certain 2020 and 2025 Model Year Range Rover Evoque vehicles during a passenger airbag deployment the airbag may tear as a result of improper folding of the airbag during the airbag assembly process.”

Regarding these recalls, 48,997 Land Rover cars were recalled.

Land Rover Recalls 2025: Was My Model Recalled?

Land Rover issued various safety notices throughout 2025, affecting a range of models across their extensive model line-up.

Below, we’ve outlined the key Land Rover recall activity across the year.

While we’re highlighting the latest Land Rover recalls, why don’t we take a look at some of the most significant Land Rover recalls since they were made publicly available (from 1992 to present date):

How to Check Your Land Rover Recall Status

If you’re unsure whether your Land Rover has any outstanding recalls, you can check your vehicle’s status quickly online.

Enter your vehicle’s VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) or your registration number on the official Land Rover website to see any open safety actions or required repairs.

You can also use the GOV.UK recall checker by entering your registration number, which will show all current recall notices issued for your car.

If your Land Rover is affected – particularly by a more urgent recall – make arrangements to book the repair as soon as possible.

All recall-related fixes are carried out free of charge, helping you stay safe on the road and ensuring your vehicle continues to meet legal safety standards.

My Land Rover Has Been Recalled: What Should I Do Next?

If your Land Rover is subject to a safety recall, it is important to remain calm; recalls are a standard part of the automotive industry’s commitment to safety and proactive maintenance. Your next steps will be determined by the specific nature and urgency of the campaign.

When a recall is officially launched, either Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) or the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) will contact you via a formal notification. This letter will detail the specific defect and provide clear instructions on the necessary remedial action.

In the majority of cases, the process simply requires you to schedule an appointment with an authorised Land Rover retailer. Depending on the defect, the technician will perform a repair, install a replacement part, or deploy a software update to bring the vehicle back to the manufacturer's safety specification.

However, if you receive a "Stop Drive" notice, it is imperative that you cease using the vehicle immediately. Operating a vehicle under an urgent safety recall can compromise your safety and may have legal implications regarding your vehicle's roadworthiness. In these rare circumstances, Land Rover will typically arrange for the professional recovery of your vehicle to an authorised workshop.

While a recall may cause temporary disruption, the repair will be conducted entirely free of charge. Under the UK’s safety recall framework, manufacturers are legally obligated to cover all costs associated with rectifying a safety-related defect.

Upon completion of the work, your Land Rover will be certified as safe for use, and the vehicle’s records will be updated on the central DVSA database to show the recall has been resolved. Acting promptly ensures your vehicle remains safe, compliant, and maintains its long-term value and reliability.
