When it comes to off-road rubber,
BFGoodrich has long been one of the biggest names in the business. From sand to snow and everything in between, the brand’s tyres excel when the going gets tough.
Helping cement that reputation as an off-road legend, BFGoodrich’s All-Terrain T/A K02 has expertly blended off-road capability with everyday usability for over a decade. But can its successor, the new All-Terrain T/A KO3, live up to the legacy?
Keep reading to find out how BFGoodrich’s KO2 and KO3 all-terrain tyres compare, and how Blackcircles.com customers rate them overall.
Launched in 2015, BFGoodrich’s KO2 replaced the iconic original All-Terrain T/A K0.
While the original K0 was highly regarded for its toughness and go-anywhere ability, the KO2 took things to another level. Upping the sidewall strength by 20% and fixing issues like rubber chipping, the KO2 is a more durable option for your 4x4.
Another key strength is its all-terrain traction. The KO2 uses an advanced tread pattern with interlocking blocks, 3D sipes, and mud-clearing elements to maintain grip across a wide range of surfaces. Whether driving on loose dirt, mud, or even snow, the tyre is engineered to provide consistent traction and stability, helping improve control in unpredictable conditions.
Moreover, the KO2 bears full Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) certification, which means it’s equally comfortable in hot or cold climates — as its all-season billing suggests.

Building on the KO2’s legacy, the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 introduces a range of updated technologies designed to push durability and performance even further. At the core is CoreGard technology, derived from BFGoodrich’s off-road racing experience, which strengthens the sidewall using a more cut and bruise resistant compound. This is paired with an Advanced Deflection Design, helping prevent sharp objects from snagging or splitting the sidewall — key for tackling rocky terrain with confidence.
The KO3 also benefits from a completely revised tread system. A new all-terrain tread compound is engineered to improve longevity, particularly on abrasive surfaces like gravel, while an optimised footprint shape distributes stress more evenly across the tyre to promote consistent wear. Alongside this, full-depth locking 3D sipes enhance tread block stability, meaning the tyre maintains performance as it wears over time rather than dropping off.
For traction, BFGoodrich has refined several key features. The KO3 uses an updated serrated shoulder design and mud-phobic bars, which actively help clear debris and improve grip in soft conditions like mud and snow. Combined with its Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) certification, these technologies ensure the tyre delivers reliable traction across a wide range of environments, from loose off-road terrain to winter roads.
Having
tested the all-new KO3’s off-road process on the punishing tracks of Château de Lastours, France, we can confirm that BFGoodrich’s latest all-terrain offering lives up to its rugged reputation. When it comes to traction and durability, the KO3 proved highly impressive when fitted to the Ineos Grenadier 4x4.
Since its debut, the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO2 has been widely praised for its performance on off-road vehicles:
• DriverReviews 2025 Customer Choice Awards, Best Tyres for Truck/Pick-up: Winner
• Tyre Reviews 2024, Best All Terrain Tyre: Winner
These accolades highlight the tyre’s versatility and standing in the all-terrain industry.
As the BFGoodrich All-Terrain T/A KO3 is a newly released model, it has yet to be awarded any titles — at time of writing.
However, given it marks a significant upgrade over the outgoing model, it is likely to become a decorated off-road tyre in due course. This page will be updated when the KO3 receives any notable commendation.
