Despite officially entering the UK just 12 months ago, Chinese brand Leapmotor is already making serious inroads into the British EV market. In fact, as of January 2026, the nascent automaker has already secured 2.6% of the UK electric car segment.
Hoping to perpetuate this success, Leapmotor’s new C10 SUV arrives on UK soil boasting an impressive blend of performance, practicality, and advanced driver assistance technology.
And it’s cutting no corners in its pursuit of the EV status quo. Sporting standard
Yokohama Advan Sport EV V108 tyres at all four corners, the advanced rubber should help to enhance C10’s already impressive efficiency and refinement.
Here’s what makes Leapmotor and Yokohama such a perfect pairing.
While the C10 is clearly a handsome machine, we’re most interested in how it performs on the road. Thankfully, the headline figures are strong.
Powering the C10 is an ingenious hybrid setup offering the best of both worlds: power and economy. At the rear sits a 212-bhp electric motor paired to a 28.4-kWh battery, while a 1.5-litre four-cylinder petrol engine is nestled up front as a generator. Combined, this equates to impressive C02 emissions of just 38g/km, and a remarkable range of over 600 miles. Or, if you’d rather glide along silently using just the battery, the C10 can achieve up to 90 miles before the petrol engine needs to intervene.
However, such a versatile powertrain would be wasted without the appropriate tyres. That’s why Leapmotor chose Yokohama’s Advan Sport EV V108 as a factory-fit pairing for the C10.
Developed as an evolution of the
Advan Sport V107, the EV V108 has been refined to suit the unique characteristics of electrified vehicles, including their higher torque output. That means the C10 should have no trouble putting its power down. Moreover, the 3+1 main groove design offers superior water drainage and wet grip, while high-rigidity wide shoulders mean, stable, responsive dry cornering.

Beyond outright performance, the C10 places a strong emphasis on delivering a serene driving experience. Electric propulsion already reduces vibration and noise, but tyre design plays a crucial role in cabin comfort. The Advan Sport EV V108 incorporates a specially tuned tread pattern and noise-reduction technologies to minimise road roar — an especially important factor in EVs, where the absence of engine noise makes tyre sound more noticeable.
The result is a calmer, more composed ride that suits long motorway journeys as well as daily commuting. Combined with the C10’s well-insulated cabin and smooth power delivery, occupants can expect an ultra-refined atmosphere that feels more premium than the SUV’s price point might suggest.
Efficiency remains a cornerstone of any EV, and the C10’s tyre choice contributes directly to those impressive range figures. The Yokohama’s Low rolling resistance construction helps reduce energy loss, allowing the battery to deliver maximum mileage between charges.
This efficiency-focused design works in harmony with the C10’s hybrid system, ensuring the petrol generator is called upon less frequently and overall fuel consumption stays low. For drivers balancing cost savings with environmental considerations, this synergy between tyre technology and drivetrain engineering delivers a meaningful uptick in real-world range and fuel economy.
