Michelin Primacy 5 Energy vs Michelin CrossClimate 3

Michelin Primacy 5 Energy vs Michelin CrossClimate 3

Though they are the world’s leading tyre manufacturers, Michelin are an ever-growing brand that continues to redefine their model line.

Two brand new inclusions to their line-up in 2025 was their Primacy 5 and CrossClimate 3 tyres, which both have already proved to be huge successes.

In 2026, Michelin announced their brand new Primacy 5 Energy model, focusing more on fuel efficiency and electric car mileage than its sister-model.

While the CrossClimate 3 doesn’t feature an “Energy” variation of the model, we will be comparing the two tyres outlined to identify key differences, customer revies, and much more.

Michelin Primacy 5 Energy Overview

The Michelin Primacy 5 Energy has garnered early attention from tyre enthusiasts, building upon the foundation that the Primacy 5 set a year prior in 2025.

This tyre focuses on the demands of electric vehicles, prioritising improved energy efficiency, extended driving range, reduced road noise and long-lasting performance without compromising on everyday comfort.

Michelin’s Energy Passive 2.0 compound increases resistance to abrasion, helping the tyre wear more evenly thus resulting in more longevity.

The Primacy 5 Energy is also equipped with Michelin’s Slim Belt technology, which looks to further reduce rolling resistance. This leads to a lower fuel consumption for ICE vehicles, as well as extending battery range on electric vehicles.

An innovative tyre that focuses on all-things energy/fuel efficiency, the Michelin Primacy 5 Energy garners top praise from industry experts within its short tyre lifespan.

Michelin CrossClimate 3 Overview

The Michelin CrossClimate 3 is the latest evolution of Michelin’s popular all-season tyre range, released in 2025 as the successor to the CrossClimate 2.

Designed to deliver confident year-round performance, it offers a strong balance of summer handling and dependable winter capability.

Like its predecessor, the CrossClimate 3 carries the Three Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) marking, meeting EU standards for winter use while benefiting from improved wet braking performance of up to 4%.

The tyre also utilises Michelin’s MaxTouch construction to maximise road contact and evenly distribute forces, helping to extend tread life by up to 15%.

A refined and capable all-season option, the CrossClimate 3 is expected to remain a strong performer within Michelin’s tyre line-up.

Tyre Label Ratings

Here’s a reworded version that keeps a clear, informative tone and natural flow:

All car tyres are required to display EU-regulated tyre label ratings, which provide insight into how a tyre performs across several key performance areas.

It’s important to note that these ratings can differ depending on the tyre size or whether the tyre has been specifically designed for certain vehicle manufacturers.

The EU tyre label covers the following rating categories:
