Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 Overview

The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 is a premium tyre model manufactured by Goodyear since its launch in 2019.

The tyres are equipped with Impulse Control Compound Technology that features highly refined silica compound, enhancing the efficiency of the model’s short braking distance on wet and dry conditions.

The Goodyear tyre model also offers Rim Protection Technology to tackle curb rash, furthering the tyre’s longevity in case of small bumps on the road.

The Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 has been a great addition to Goodyear’s model lineup over the past few years.

Continental PremiumContact 6 Overview

The PremiumContact 6 is a tyre model introduced in 2016 by premium tyre manufacturer Continental.

The tyres contain the Continental Safety Silica Compound, making for stronger wet and dry grip performances that enhances driving safety.

The premium tyre also features tyre shoulder configuration, combined with an asymmetrical tread rib geometry. The tyre offers an increase of 15% compared to the previous PremiumContact model – PremiumContact 6.

The PremiumContact 6 is a great continuation of the popular PremiumContact models by Continental and is still a popular tyre in the industry.

The two tyre models highlighted are now established in the tyre industry since their launches, but how do they match up with each other?

Tyre label rating represents the official rankings of tyre performance factors per EU labelling. It is important to note that each tyre model’s label ratings will vary between tyre sizes.

The Goodyear tyre model has wet grip ratings of either A or B, with an A being the average rating of the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5.

Continental PremiumContact 6 Label Ratings

The Continental PremiumContact 6 sees fuel efficiency ratings of between A – D. Much like the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5, the Continental model has an average fuel efficiency label rating of B.

Tyre noise ratings also vary, with labels for the performance factor being between 70dB and 75B.

In 2020, the Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 was commended at the Auto Express Tyre Product Awards. The tyre test was focused on SUVs, with the tyre model’s excellent grip and aquaplaning being a contributing factor to the Auto Express commandment.

The Goodyear model has also been commended at the second Heavea Awards in 2019, being named ‘Best Car Tyre’ in Spain.

Accolades that the Eagle F1 Asymmetric 5 have racked up over the years highlights the quality of the tyre model.

The PremiumContact 6 have also received many awards and recognitions.

The tyre model won the IF Design Award in 2017, due to the innovative technologies of the tyres such as the tread design.
