Tyre Safety Month 2025: Everything You Need to Know

At Blackcircles, we embrace all-things safety regarding your tyres – these are the foundation of your car and should be treated as such.

Keeping your tyres in top condition not only enhances durability, performance, and comfort but also ensures maximum safety while driving, whether on or off the road.

Therefore, we’re celebrating the 16th annual Tyre Safety Month, seeking to raise awareness for everything tyre safety.

What Is Tyre Safety Month?

Tyre Safety Month is an annual awareness campaign that focuses on the safety of tyres.

This campaign is hosted by TyreSafe, a UK-based charity that has been dedicated to making roads as safe as possible through public education, tyre maintenance guidance, and promoting responsible driving practices for nearly 20 years.

TyreSafe were established in 2006, but it wasn’t until 2010 they started their industry-famous “Tyre Safety Month” which has been an annual occurrence ever since.

The annual event takes place on every October, with this marking the 16th Tyre Safety Month campaign to date.

Tyre Safety Month 2025 “Under Pressure” Campaign

Tyre Safety Month campaign

The main big campaign of this year’s Tyre Safety Month falls under the messaging of “Under Pressure”, which highlights how life pressures can alter the way you maintain your vehicle.

According to TyreSafe, new studies show that the higher stress you feel in your personal life, the more neglected your tyre maintenance becomes, leading to potential unsafe driving practices.

The core message behind this campaign is “Life has enough pressures. Don’t let tyres be one.”

Checking Your Tyres Properly: TyreSafe’s “ACT” Campaign

TyreSafe’s “ACT” campaign is designed to help drivers remember the three simple checks that make the biggest difference to safety: Air pressure, Condition, and Tread.

These checks take only a few minutes but can prevent breakdowns, improve fuel efficiency, and significantly reduce the risk of accidents.

By encouraging drivers to ACT, TyreSafe continues its mission of making UK roads safer for everyone.

Air Pressure

Maintaining the correct tyre pressure is essential for safety, fuel efficiency, and tyre longevity.

Underinflated tyres can increase stopping distances, reduce handling performance, and lead to uneven wear – while overinflated tyres can reduce grip and comfort.

Checking your tyre pressure regularly ensures your tyres perform as intended andhelps avoid costly repairs or replacements.

Condition

Inspecting your tyres for cuts, bulges, or embedded objects is vital to prevent blowouts and maintain a smooth, safe ride.

Damage or deterioration can happen gradually, often going unnoticed until it’s too late.

A quick visual check of your tyres can spot early warning signs and prevent dangerous situations on the road.

Tread Depth

Your tyre tread is what keeps your car gripped to the road – especially in wet conditions.

Worn treads dramatically increase braking distances and the likelihood of aquaplaning.

Keeping your tyres above the legal minimum tread depth of 1.6mm helps maintain traction, improves braking performance, and ensures your car remains road legal.
