Michelin Road 6 vs Dunlop Mutant

Michelin and Dunlop are two premium tyre brands that have been paving the way for tyre innovation since the 19th century.

Both tyre manufacturers have made their name from not just producing car tyres, but also manufacturing motorbike tyres.

In the case of Michelin bike tyres and Dunlop bike tyres, two of their leading models are the Road 6 and Mutant respectively.

These two tyre models are leading tyres in the motorbike tyre industry, so how do they compare? That’s what we are going to cover in this article here today.

Road 6 Overview

The Michelin Road 6 is a premium motorbike tyre released by Michelin back in 2022.

The Road 6 features an innovative tread 100% Silica Technology compound, giving the tyre a 15% boost in wet grip traction compared to its predecessor.

This tread compound that Michelin has developed on the Road 6 also improves the longevity of the tyre by 10%.

Michelin’s 2CT+ Technology is applied on both the front and rear tyres, enhancing cornering performance during strong acceleration and/or heavy braking.

With two decades of innovation regarding the Road bike tyre series, the Road 6 encapsulates everything a premium tyre should be.

The Road 6 replaced the Road 5 upon its release in 2022.

Mutant Overview

The Dunlop Mutant is also a premium bike tyre that was released by Dunlop in 2020.

Equipped with a high-silica tread compound, the Mutant provides fantastic grip during wet driving conditions.

Dunlop’s MT MultiTread™ technology in the rear tyre provides the Mutant with exceptional mileage for both touring and commuting, while the high-grip lateral compounds deliver full sport-tyre performance.

The Carcass Tension Control System (CTCS) incorporates varying tension within its architecture, ensuring the necessary stiffness and compliance in specific areas.

The shape of the front tire section have been optimized using Dunlop's Dynamic Front Formula (DFF) design approach.

This ensures the perfect balance of steering effort, stability, and feedback, offering unmatched rider confidence and enjoyment.

Both the Road 6 and Mutant are exempt from tyre labelling.
