Dacia Car Recalls 2025: Full Guide to Stop-Drive Notices

What Is a “Stop Drive” Recall? Everything You Need to Know

If you own a Dacia, staying informed about the latest safety recalls is essential to keeping your vehicle safe and roadworthy.

In 2025, several Dacia models – including the Spring, Jogger, and Duster – were affected by safety notices, with one major stop-drive recall requiring motorists to stop using their cars immediately.

This guide explains what recalls mean, the details of each 2025 Dacia recall, and how you can quickly check if your car is affected.

What is a Recall?

A vehicle recall is issued when a manufacturer identifies a safety-related defect or technical problem that needs to be corrected.

Many recalls are precautionary and do not require you to immediately stop driving your car.

Instead, the manufacturer will offer a free repair or replacement of the affected component, and you’ll be contacted with instructions on what to do next.

Recalls are overseen by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA), who ensure that manufacturers fix safety issues quickly and efficiently to protect road users.

Vehicle manufacturers, however, are still responsible for issuing and managing recalls themselves.

What is a Stop-Drive Recall?

A stop-drive recall is the most serious type of vehicle safety notice.

It is issued when a defect poses an immediate and significant safety risk, meaning drivers must stop using the vehicle right away.

These recalls usually involve critical components – such as brakes, steering, airbags, battery systems, or structural parts – that could fail suddenly and potentially cause a serious accident.

Unlike standard recalls, stop-drive notices are not advisory; they are urgent instructions that must be followed.

Car recall letter

Driving a car under a stop-drive recall is illegal. If caught driving an affected vehicle before it’s repaired, you could face a fine of up to £2,500, three penalty points, or even a driving ban.

In some cases, manufacturers will recommend that the car is recovered by a tow truck rather than driven to a garage depending on the severity of the defect.

However, it’s worth getting in touch with both your insurance provider and manufacturing company to see if you can drive to the garage yourself to get your vehicle fixed.

A Recent Stop-Drive Recall Case

A personal experience of this for me was earlier this year when Citroen DS models were recalled under a “stop-drive” notice.

I drive a DS3 that was manufactured in 2013, meaning my car along with around 130,000 other Citroen vehicles were being recalled.

As soon as the letter from Stellantis went through the door outlining recalls due to dodgy airbags, I stopped driving my car immediately.

While it took 3 weeks to get a garage appointment booked, I waited it out until my car could be seen to by a trusted garage.

So while I understand the frustration – I’ve been through it myself – if you are being instructed to stop driving immediately, please ensure you stay off the roads for the safety of you and others.

Dacia Spring Stop-Drive Recall 2025

In November 2025, a stop-drive recall was issued for the Dacia Spring due to a serious steering defect.
According to the official GOV.UK recall notice:

“For certain vehicles there is a risk of rupture of the steering rack when subjected to high mechanical stress which could lead to loss of control and risk of an accident. Customers are requested to immediately stop driving their vehicles.”

Dacia Spring

This defect poses an immediate risk of steering failure, meaning the vehicle could suddenly become uncontrollable while driving.

Because this is a stop-drive recall, owners must not drive the car under any circumstances – except when instructed to take it directly to a garage for the repair.

If you own a Dacia Spring, it’s essential to check whether your vehicle is included and follow the manufacturer’s instructions straight away.

Other 2025 Dacia Recalls

Dacia Jogger Recall 2025

A recall was issued for the Dacia Jogger due to a potential issue with the parking brake mechanism.
The GOV.UK notice states:

“For certain vehicles a concern involving the electric traction reducer parking brake mechanism actuator or gearbox engagement actuator within the transmission may result in the parking brake mechanism actuator no longer correctly positioning the locking pawl.”

Dacia Jogger

This recall does not require drivers to immediately stop using their car.

However, a malfunctioning parking brake mechanism can lead to the vehicle rolling unintentionally, so owners should arrange the repair as soon as possible.

Dacia Duster Recall 2025

A further recall was issued for the Dacia Duster due to concerns with the rear stub axle carrier mounting bolts.
The GOV.UK recall report explains:

“On affected vehicles due to an insufficient tightening of the rear stub axle carrier mounting bolts at the factory the fatigue resistance of the bolt assembly is reduced.”

Dacia Duster

Loose or insufficiently tightened mounting bolts can reduce structural resistance and affect the stability of the rear axle assembly.

Although this is not a stop-drive recall, drivers should arrange repairs promptly to avoid further complications.
