Michelin has announced the launch of two new summer tyres.
The Michelin Primacy 5 Energy and the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 Energy are both launching in the UK from January 2026.
These two tyres are an addition to the already strong Michelin summer range, with a clear focus on energy efficiency, safety, and modern vehicle needs.
Both tyres are suitable for petrol, hybrid, and electric vehicles, supporting drivers who want to reduce energy use without giving up performance when on the road.
The Michelin Pilot Sport 5 Energy is a high-performance summer tyre. It has been designed for drivers who want responsive handling and strong grip, all with a lower energy consumption.
The Michelin Primacy 5 Energy focuses on comfort, safety, and efficiency, making the tyre an ideal option for everyday driving – including electric and hybrid vehicles.
Both tyres represent Michelin’s next step in developing energy-efficient summer tyres.
Both tyres achieve A-ratings on the European tyre label for energy efficiency and wet grip, helping drivers to use less fuel or to extend their electric driving range, whilst still maintaining strong braking performance in wet conditions (1).
A lower rolling resistance performance plays a key role, allowing the tyres to convert more energy into motion rather than heat.
The Michelin Pilot Sport 5 Energy is built for drivers who enjoy a sportier feel.
Michelin have used technology inspired by their history and motorsport experience. It delivers precise steering response and confident handling.
Despite this performance focus, it still achieves A-ratings for wet grip and energy efficiency on the EU tyre label (1).

Michelin’s construction design spread forces evenly across the tyre, supporting longer tread life while keeping rolling resistance low (2).
The Pilot Sport 5 Energy will be available in 18-inch rim sizes and above, targeting performance cars and modern EVs.
Fully fitted prices for the Michelin Pilot Sport 5 Energy range from £ to £ .

The Michelin Primacy 5 Energy is designed for drivers who value comfort, quietness, and long-lasting performance.
It carries Michelin’s AAA performance rating, meaning high standards across energy efficiency, wet grip, and external noise on the European tyre label (3).
A new tread pattern improves water drainage for added wet safety, while updated compounds help resist wear over time.

Noise-reduction technologies and an optimised casing design help deliver a smoother and quieter ride, which is especially noticeable in electric vehicles.
The Primacy 5 Energy will be available in 16-inch to 21-inch sizes, covering a wide range of popular cars and SUVs.
Fully fitted prices for the Michelin Primacy 5 Energy range from £ to £ .
Yes. Michelin confirms that all Michelin tyres are suitable for electric vehicles, including the Primacy 5 Energy and Pilot Sport 5 Energy.
Both tyres are designed to handle the extra weight and instant torque of EVs, whilst also reducing rolling resistance. This all helps the tyre to maximise driving range, with acoustic tuning helping to limit road noise.
With the launch of the Primacy 5 Energy and Pilot Sport 5 Energy, Michelin completes its summer tyre lineup with products built for modern motoring needs.
Whether drivers want efficient everyday comfort or sporty summer performance with lower energy use, Michelin’s new Energy tyres aim to deliver a strong balance of performance, safety, and efficiency from 2026 onwards.
(1) EU tyre label – wet grip & energy efficiency
MICHELIN Pilot Sport 5 Energy is rated “A” for wet grip and energy efficiency on the European tyre label on 100% of replacement market tyres. Marked tyres developed according to car manufacturer specifications are excluded. MICHELIN Primacy 5 Energy achieves AAA performance across rolling resistance, wet grip, and external noise. Over 80% of replacement market tyres meet AAA classification. Marked tyres are excluded.
(2) Longevity
Improved tread life is supported by MICHELIN MaxTouch Technology, which helps distribute acceleration, braking, and cornering forces more evenly. Actual mileage may vary depending on vehicle, driving style, road, and weather conditions.
