Who issues an MOT certificate?
An MOT certificate is issued by an approved MOT test centre once your vehicle has passed the inspection.
These centres are authorised by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) and must meet strict requirements to carry out MOT testing.
The certificate is a legal document confirming that your car or motorcycle met the required safety and emissions standards on the day of the test.
You’ll receive a printed certificate at the garage, but the results are also logged digitally on the DVSA’s central database.
This means you can check your MOT status and history online at any time using your vehicle’s registration number
