Are MOTs recorded online?

Yes, all MOT tests in the UK are digitally recorded online by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).

Once your vehicle has been tested, the results – whether it passes or fails – are uploaded to a central database.

You can view your full MOT history, including test dates, results, mileage, and any advisory notes, by visiting the GOV.UK MOT history checker.

This online system makes it easy to keep track of your MOT status, check the history of a used vehicle before buying, or set up free reminders so you never miss a renewal.

You’ll still receive a paper certificate when your vehicle passes, but the official record is always stored online.
