What happens in an electric car service?

An electric car service focuses on maintaining the key systems that keep your EV running smoothly, safely, and efficiently. While EVs have fewer moving parts than petrol or diesel cars, they still require regular checks to ensure everything is in good working order.

During a standard EV service, the technician will check the high-voltage battery for overall health and performance, inspect the charging system and cables, and run diagnostics to identify any software issues or faults.

The brake system is also assessed – even though regenerative braking reduces wear, components like pads and discs still need to be checked. Other routine inspections include tyres, steering and suspension, lights, wipers, and the cabin air filter.

Many EVs also require checks on their cooling systems (for the battery or motor) and will receive any necessary software updates as part of the service.

Although you won’t need things like oil changes or spark plug replacements, an electric car service is still essential for safety, performance, and warranty compliance – and helps prevent small issues from turning into bigger problems down the line.
