Does an electric car need oil changes?

No, electric cars don’t require engine oil changes because they don’t have a traditional combustion engine. Unlike petrol or diesel vehicles, EVs are powered by an electric motor, which doesn’t need oil for lubrication.

However, some EVs may have gearbox oil or coolant systems that need periodic maintenance, depending on the model.

While oil changes are off the list, regular servicing is still important to check other components like brakes, tyres, and software updates.
