Do hybrid cars need an MOT?

Yes, hybrid cars are subject to the same MOT rules as petrol and diesel cars.

Once a hybrid car has reached the age of three years old, they must have an MOT every year to confirm they meet the necessary legal and safety standards.

The MOT inspection checks the same parts as on any other vehicle - such as tyres, brakes, lights, and steering.

If the hybrid has a combustion engine, it will also undergo emissions testing.

Fully electric cars, on the other hand, are not subject to emissions checks, though they must still pass the rest of the MOT inspection.
