Coming Soon: Hankook Weatherflex GT Tyre

Hankook Weatherflex GT all season tyre

Hankook’s new all-season tyre is soon to be released in the UK this year.

The Hankook Weatherflex GT has already hit the road in North America and Korea, and it's expected to arrive here within the coming weeks. It's the first tyre in Hankook's new Weatherflex family and sits alongside the Kinergy 4S2.

Here's what we know about it so far.

Hankook Weatherflex GT UK release date

There's no confirmed UK release date yet.

The Weatherflex GT went on sale in North America in January 2025 and launched in Korea in July 2025, and we're expecting it to reach the UK soon.

We'll update this page with the date and the full UK size list as soon as we have them.

What is the Hankook Weatherflex GT?

The Weatherflex GT has been described by Hankook as an all season tyre for everyday cars. The GT stands for grand touring. This means the tyre has been developed to stay on the car throughout the year and to fit everything from compact hatchbacks up to large SUVs.

It has passed the certification and carries the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) symbol. Which means it has passed a standardised snow traction test.

This is different from the M+S marking - which is a manufacturer's marking and isn't a proper measure of winter performance.

This isn’t Hankook’s first all season tyre – it’s been making them since 2008, and created Weatherflex as a separate family. Hankook’s other all season tyres include:

Hankook Weatherflex GT features and benefits

The biggest change in terms of it’s visual appeal from the Kinergy 4S2 is the tread pattern.

The Kinergy 4S2 uses a directional pattern – whereas Hankook have moved Weatherflex GT to an asymmetric design.

Hankook highlights these features:

Is an all season tyre right for UK roads?

Summer tyres work best in warmer conditions. As temperatures drop, the rubber within the compound stiffens and as such grip falls away.

Hankook pitches its all season tyres at conditions below roughly 45°F, (that’s about 7°C), Which, for much of the UK, is a fair description of the temperatures we experience from October to March.

A tyre like the Weatherflex GT will suit you best if frost and the occasional snowfall are part of every winter.

Hankook Weatherflex GT sizes

UK sizes haven't been confirmed. As a guide, the North American launch range covered 37 sizes for 15- to 22-inch wheels, from small family cars up to large SUVs (1).

In the US, Hankook Tire America also sells it with a 70,000-mile treadwear warranty (1). UK terms haven't been announced.

How has the Weatherflex GT performed in testing?

So far we've found one independent test that includes it - the AutoView 2026 all-season test. This was in the size 255/45 R19, as summarised by Tyre Reviews.

It finished fourth of four. The Weatherflex GT was the cheapest tyre in the group and the tester rated it as the quietest of those tested.

Its dry and wet braking distances were the longest in the test – and it scored lowest for cornering speed and handling.

One test in one size doesn't tell the whole story though. Hankook has a history of improving tyres after launch.

The Kinergy 4S2 was criticised for its snow grip early on, then went on to win the Auto Express all-season tyre test in 2021 and again in 2022.

We'll add any European test results here as they come in.

Need new tyres before it arrives?

If you need tyres today though - there's no reason to wait.

Find your size

It's worth checking your current tyres before the cold weather sets in. The legal minimum tread depth for cars is 1.6mm across the central three-quarters of the tread, and any cut, crack or bulge in the sidewall means the tyre needs looking at before you drive on it.

You can find tyres for your car by registration, then book fitting at a local garage or with a mobile fitter.

Hankook Weatherflex GT FAQs

When is the Hankook Weatherflex GT coming to the UK?

It's expected soon, but there's no confirmed UK launch date yet. We'll update this article once the date and sizes are announced.

Is the Weatherflex GT a winter tyre?

No, it's an all-weather tyre designed to stay on the car all year. It carries the 3PMSF symbol, so it has passed a standardised snow traction test.

How is it different from the Hankook Kinergy 4S2?

The Weatherflex GT has an asymmetric tread instead of the Kinergy 4S2's directional pattern, plus a new compound and more sipes. Hankook says these improve snow traction, handling and tread life.

Should I wait for the Weatherflex GT or buy all-weather tyres now?

If your current tyres are worn, damaged or close to the legal limit, replace them now rather than waiting for a tyre with no confirmed launch date. The Kinergy 4S2 and other all-season tyres are available today.

Is it safe to drive with a bulge in my tyre?

No. A bulge means the tyre's internal structure is damaged and it could fail without warning. Have it replaced before driving on it again.

Notes:

  1. Sizes and warranty refer to Hankook Tire America's North American launch. UK sizes, specification and terms are yet to be confirmed.
