Does car servicing affect warranty?

If your car is still under warranty, it can be serviced by a garage without invalidating the warranty - provided the work meets the manufacturer’s standards.

This is made possible by the Block Exemption regulations, which ensure that manufacturers must make the technical data and servicing schedules available to independent garages so they can perform work without voiding the warranty.

To maintain your warranty, you must book a service that follows the manufacturer’s official servicing schedule. This may include using approved parts, specified oil grades, and completing all checks required under the warranty terms.

Not all types of car services meet these conditions. If you book a general or interim service rather than a warranty-specific service, it may not satisfy the terms of your vehicle warranty.

Always confirm with the garage or service centre that the work they are performing is compliant with your vehicle manufacturer’s warranty requirements.
