Ten years after the launch of the first CrossClimate tyre, Michelin is back in Switzerland to reveal the third incarnation of the model. Plus, an all-new tyre: the sportier, all-season CrossClimate 3 Sport.
The CrossClimate 3 Sport is a new territory for Michelin and a new segment on the market. Blackcircles was fortunate to be invited to Michelin’s launch — testing these new models in the Swiss mountains.

The CrossClimate range has become a hallmark of safety for drivers. As such, retaining this driving force was important for Michelin when it came to reinvigorating its 2021 CrossClimate 2 — you can compare the models in more detail here.
The new CrossClimate 3 shows a new tread pattern and different profile design. Plus, a more snow-orientated tread compound for improved longevity. Longevity is important for Michelin as it can pass these savings onto consumers. Firstly, by no longer needing to switch from winter to summer tyres, drivers can save money with just one set. With the improvements to technology and materials, drivers are getting a 15% longer tyre lifespan than the CrossClimate 2.
Unlike the separate CrossClimate 2 and CrossClimate 2 SUV lines, this model is already suitable for SUVs. With Cyril Roget, Michelin Group Technical and Scientific Communication Director, noting that there will be “no more SUVs marking tyre lines at Michelin” and as the CrossClimate 3 is EV-ready it’s also suitable for electric vehicles as well as family cars.
Available from 1st July 2025, size 16-22 inch.
With the CrossClimate 3 Sport, Michelin offers a “sport tyre with some snow capabilities,” shares Laurent Pascal, Product Category Manager at Michelin. It delivers precise handling in any weather conditions, ideal for any driver of a sports vehicle with over 200 hp that wants the convenience of all-season. Previously, in the UK, these drivers may have braved winter conditions on summer tyres or made do with a traditional all-season tyre, leaving an unsatisfying drive behind.
The CrossClimate 3 Sport delivers precise driving in wet and dry conditions and good wet grip. So, you might be thinking, how did Michelin make an all-season tyre sporty? Yeah, we thought so too. It was “a big challenge in innovation” muses Pascal, requiring a balance of compounds to deliver the rigidity required for sports performance and the capabilities required to handle cold, wet winter mornings or dry summer conditions. Michelin used expertise from its motorsport legacy, bringing in a hybrid belt of Aramid and Nylon to ensure optimum transmission of steering instructions onto the road.
Drivers will know they have an all-new all-season sports tyre through the external markings on the rubber, with the premium-feel touch, race flag embellishments and three peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.
Available from 1st July 2025 size 18-22 inch.
How do they feel to drive? Stay tuned as we deliver more details soon.
