Want cutting-edge tech at cut-down prices? Strap in as we explore three irresistible offers on the used EV market — and find out why Hankook’s Ventus S1 evo3 EV tyre, is their perfect partner.
Depreciation — it’s a simple (and painful) reality for all new cars. In fact, that first turn of the wheels as your showroom fresh model rolls off the dealer forecourt will cost you up to 10% of your vehicle’s total value. Ouch.
And, for one type of car, that decline can be even sharper. Whether it’s due to the misinformation surrounding battery lifespans and driving ranges, a lack of confidence in the charging network, or simply a fear of the unknown, many EVs have seen values plummet on the used market over the last three years.
But you know what they say: one person’s loss is another’s gain. From radical rebrands and space-age styling, to award-winning
Porsches, here’s how to bag a top shelf EV for a bargain basement sum.
Plus, we’ll even show you how to get the most out of it by fitting Ventus S1 evo3 EV tyres which maximise range and performance, without breaking the bank.

Historically, Porsches — like the timeless 911 GT3 Touring— depreciate at a glacial rate. Unfortunately, the same can’t be said of the brand’s first all-electric offering: the Taycan.
Despite effectively re-writing the rulebook when it comes to engaging and fun-to-drive electric cars, Porsche’s award-winning saloon has retained remarkably little of its original sticker price. That means you can now put a three-year-old, low-mileage version of perhaps the finest-handling EV on the market, on your drive for less than half of its base RRP in 2022.
Sounds intriguing, right? There’s more. For £35,000 you’ll get over 400 bhp, a 0-60 mph time of just 5.4 seconds, and a useable range of 276 miles per charge. And the best part? It’ll still have some manufacturer warranty left — and maybe even a little new car smell.
As always, though, regardless of age, a Porsche needs the right rubber to perform at its best. That’s why a tyre like the EV-focused Hankook S1 Evo 3 — with its Aramid Hybrid Cord for optimal handling — is essential.

Or what about something even newer, but just as potent? Meet the Audi e-tron GT. Just look at it, for starters. Low, wide, and with futuristic-looking design accents, it’s hard to believe something with this much road presence can be had at such a discounted rate.
Granted, its badge isn’t quite as flashy as the Taycan’s, but for less than £43,000 the Audi offers supercar-baiting performance and, for all intents and purposes, still feels like a new car. We even spotted examples with as few as 10,000 miles on the clock for around the same price as a new Vauxhall Astra electric.
Still not convinced? Well, how does 469 bhp and 0-60 mph in a scant 4.5 seconds sound? That said, thanks to the vast amount of torque on offer, such acceleration is only possible with enough traction. Thankfully, Hankook’s Highly Stiff and Wide Center Rib, designed especially for EVs, should make slippage and ‘abnormal abrasion’ a thing of the past.

But what if you’re after a more family-focused electric companion? A used Ford Mustang Mach-E brings an iconic reimagined badge, for surprisingly reasonable prices.
Back when it launched in 2020, the fabled Mustang logo on an e-SUV was a tough pill for some diehard ‘Stang fans to swallow. But whether you approve of the name or not, the Mach-E is an excellent family car.
For a hair over £30,000, you can now pick up an ultra-low mileage 2023 example that’s laden with features like self-parking, a panoramic roof, and adaptive cruise control. Plus, the 91-kWh model boasts an impressive 372-mile driving range and a punchy 5.6-second 0-60 mph sprint.
And, while the Mach-E was criticised for not having the quietest cabin in its class at higher speeds, that can be mitigated with the right tyres. With its special sound-absorber foam which disperses noise from the road surface, Hankook’s Ventus S1 evo3 EV should help to keep things hushed.
So there you have it, three nearly new EVs for half price (or less). But which do you think is the biggest bargain? Let us know if there’s a discounted electric option we missed.
