Goodyear Vector All Season 4 and Vector 4Seasons Gen-3: How They Fit Together

These tyres represent two of Goodyear's premium all-season lineup - the new Vector All Season 4 and the established Vector 4Seasons Gen-3.
They complement each other, rather than competing. The Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 covers the widest array of everyday car sizes – from 14-inch wheels upwards.
Whilst the All Season 4 pushes Goodyear's all-season technology into a larger, premium fitment all the way up to 23 inches.
Here's how the two tyres compare, where they overlap, and how to choose between them.
What Is the Goodyear Vector 4Seasons Gen-3?
Launched in 2020, the Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 has become one of the best-known all-season tyres on the market.
It has picked up test wins from both ADAC and Auto Bild over the past few years. And it's still performing to very high levels. In ADAC's 2026 all-season test, it was the best tyre of sixteen in both the snow braking and ice braking categories.
The Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 Gen-3 is built around three Goodyear technologies, each targeting different road conditions:
- Snow Grip. A high number of sipes in the centre of the tread to bite into snow. Goodyear states that this improved snow handling by 5% over the Gen-2.
- Dry Handling. A strong crown and shoulder blocks that reduce tread deformation during heavy braking and cornering. Goodyear credits it with 5% better dry braking than the Vector 4Seasons Gen-2.
- Aqua Control: deep, wide grooves that move water away from the contact patch to resist aquaplaning.
By 2025 Goodyear had grown the number of sizes available to 187 - from 14 to 22 inches. That covers the vast majority of cars on UK roads.
What Is the Goodyear Vector All Season 4?
The Vector All Season 4 is Goodyear's newest all-season tyre, announced on 30 April 2026.
Rather than separate technologies for each condition, the All Season 4 is built on a single new platform called WeatherReady Technology.
It brings together three elements:
- Dry Contact Plus: an enhanced footprint under braking, which keeps more of the tread in contact with the road. To deliver excellent stopping performance in both the dry and the wet.
- 3D Blade Sipe System: a new tread pattern and optimised block design, giving confident grip across changing seasons and road conditions.
- New compound formula: improves tread wear and lowers rolling resistance, which helps extend range on EVs.
On sizes of 19 inches and above, the All Season 4 also gets an exclusive laser-engraved sidewall for a more premium look.
Independent testers have been impressed so far. Tyre Reviews named it the best all-season tyre for 2026/27, finishing first out of ten. Auto Bild rated it “exemplary”, its top grade.
Why Has Goodyear Launched a New All-Season Tyre?
Cars are getting bigger. Larger SUVs, premium saloons and EVs increasingly ride on 19-inch wheels and above. Yet many of these cars still had no all-season option at all.
The Vector All Season 4 is Goodyear's response. Around two-thirds of its range is 19 inches and above, bringing all-season tyres to models such as the Range Rover, Porsche Macan and Audi Q7 for the first time.
The name change matters too. Dropping “4Seasons” for “All Season” signals a step up – a tyre designed to perform consistently across every condition, on heavier and more powerful cars.

Where Do the Two Tyres Overlap?
The two ranges meet in the middle – roughly 16 to 22 inches. In some of these sizes, you'll be able to choose either tyre.
If both are available for your car, the Vector All Season 4 is the newer design, with the latest braking and compound technology. The Gen-3 is the proven choice, with years of real-world use and test results behind it.
Below 16 inches, the Gen-3 is Goodyear's premium all-season option. And at the very top end, only the All Season 4 goes up to 23 inches.
Can You Mix the Vector All Season 4 and Vector 4Seasons Gen-3?
It's best not to. Different tread patterns and compounds can behave differently, especially in the wet or in snow.
At the very least, the tyres on the same axle should always match.
Ideally, fit the same tyre on all four wheels – this gives you the most balanced, predictable handling.
Which Should You Choose?
For most drivers of smaller and mid-sized cars, the Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 remains a tried-and-tested choice that covers almost every size.
If you drive a larger SUV, premium saloon or EV – or simply want Goodyear's newest all-season technology – the Vector All Season 4 is the tyre to look at.
Either way, you're getting a premium all-season tyre from the brand that launched the world's first, the Goodyear Tiempo, back in 1977.
