Goodyear Vector All Season 4: Safety Features

Launched in April 2026, the Goodyear Vector All Season 4 is Goodyear's newest all-season tyre. It has been developed with the core promise that safety doesn't switch off when the weather changes.
For those concerned with winter driving performance, the Vector All Season 4 comes with the 3PMSF snow certification. It uses a new braking-focused tread footprint, and has already been rated “exemplary” by Auto Bild in independent testing.
The tyre has also recently been named the best all-season tyre for 2026/27 by Tyre Reviews. Finishing first in a ten-tyre test – against the latest premium all season tyres on the market.
What Is the Goodyear Vector All Season 4?
The Vector All Season 4 complements the Vector 4Seasons Gen-3 – which has proven to be one of the most popular all-season tyres these past six years.
Goodyear announced the Vector All Season 4 to the world on 30 April 2026, with sizes rolling out progressively through the year.
Dropping “4Seasons” for “All Season” is Goodyear's way of signalling to the market that this is a tyre designed to perform consistently across every condition. Rather than one that simply copes with each season in turn.
Are All-Season Tyres Safe All Year Round in the UK?
UK roads rarely give you one type of weather for long.
A cold, damp morning commute can turn into a dry afternoon. Or a mild winter day can be quickly followed by a week of frost and snow.
Summer tyres perform best in warm conditions. But, in low temperatures, the compound stiffens, leading to less flexibility and grip. Winter tyres are the reverse.
The main purpose of an all-season tyre is to close that gap. Giving you grip that you can rely on in January as well as July.
That's the brief the Vector All Season 4 has been engineered around.
‘WeatherReady Technology’: How the Vector All Season 4 Keeps You Safe
Goodyear has grouped the tyre's engineering under a new platform called WeatherReady Technology.
This combines three elements. Each with a specific function:
- Dry Contact Plus: an enhanced footprint under braking, which puts more of the tread in contact with the road when you need to stop in the dry or wet.
- 3D Blade Sipe System: a new tread pattern and optimised block design with interlocking sipes that bite into water, slush and snow while keeping the tread blocks stable.
- New compound formula: designed to stay effective across a wide temperature range, while also improving tread wear and lowering rolling resistance.
A compound that wears more slowly holds on to its tread depth for longer, and tread depth is what clears water away from the contact patch.
Goodyear Vector All Season 4 Wet and Dry Braking Performance
Braking distance is one of the most important safety measure for any tyre. As such, it's where Goodyear has focused much of the development work for the new tyre.
In Auto Bild's 2026 test of five premium all-season tyres in size 225/40 R18, the Vector All Season 4 finished second in wet braking and won both the wet handling and wet circle tests.
The wet circle measures how much lateral grip a tyre holds through a constant bend, which is a good indicator of how the car behaves if you must take avoiding action on a wet road.
On dry roads, it placed second in handling behind the Continental AllSeasonContact 2.
How Does the Vector All Season 4 Perform in Snow?
The Vector All Season 4 carries the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) symbol. That’s the official marking for tyres that have passed a standardised snow traction test, and it's recognised as winter-rated across Europe.
Snow was the tyre's strongest area in the Auto Bild test. It won in the snow slalom, snow handling and snow traction tests. It finished a close second in snow braking.
For UK drivers, who see a few snowy days a year rather than months of it, that's a meaningful safety margin without the cost and hassle of fitting second set of tyres.
Aquaplaning Resistance in Heavy Rain
Aquaplaning happens when a tyre can't clear water fast enough and rides up on a film of it, losing contact with the road. Your car is essentially surfing on a small wave.
It's one of the most dangerous situations a driver can face in heavy rain, especially at motorway speeds.
The Vector All Season 4 performed well here too, finishing second in curved aquaplaning and third in straight-line aquaplaning in the Auto Bild test.
Goodyear Vector All Season 4 Auto Bild Test Results
Auto Bild tested the Vector All Season 4 as a follow-up to its larger all-season test from 2025. As the new Goodyear wasn't available in time for the original.
Here's how it placed across the key safety disciplines:
| Test | Vector All Season 4 result (out of 5) |
|---|---|
| Snow slalom | 1st |
| Snow handling | 1st |
| Snow traction | 1st |
| Snow braking | 2nd |
| Wet handling | 1st |
| Wet circle | 1st |
| Wet braking | 2nd |
| Curved aquaplaning | 2nd |
| Straight aquaplaning | 3rd |
| Dry handling | 2nd |
The tyre earned an overall “exemplary” rating, Auto Bild's top grade, alongside models from Continental, Michelin and Pirelli in the same test.
Where it stands out is balance: it had no weak discipline. Plus, it was the strongest tyre in the group on snow.
To benchmark the tyre, Goodyear commissioned TÜV SÜD to test it in size 205/55 R16 against the average of four leading all-season rivals.
Tyre Reviews’ Best All Season Tyre 2026/27
In the recent All Season Tyre test by Tyre Reviews, the Vector All Season 4 finished first overall out of ten tyres.
Tested in size 225/40 R18 across snow, wet and dry conditions – the Goodyear was consistently strong in every discipline:
- Wet grip: best on the wet circle and second in both wet braking and wet handling.
- Aquaplaning: second in curved aquaplaning, holding on to lateral grip in standing water.
- Snow: strong results across all three snow tests.
- Comfort & efficiency: quiet on the road with a low rolling resistance.
Tyre Reviews also praised how stable and predictable the tyre felt when driving.
Is the Vector All Season 4 Good for EVs and SUVs?
Modern cars are heavier and more powerful than ever – and electric vehicles add battery weight and instant torque on top.
More mass means more work for your tyres, whether that’s braking or cornering. Goodyear has designed the Vector All Season 4 with these types of vehicles in mind.
By the end of 2026, Goodyear have stated that the range is set to cover 96 sizes from 16 to 23 inches - with around two-thirds at 19 inches and above.
That brings all-season safety to cars that have previously had very limited options – including:
- Range Rover
- Range Rover Sport
- Porsche Macan
- Porsche Panamera
- Audi Q7
- Audi A6 e-tron.
When it comes to EV range, the lower rolling resistance of the new compound helps get the most out of the vehicle in-between charges.
Is the Goodyear Vector All Season 4 Right for You?
The Vector All Season 4 is a strong choice if you:
- Drive year-round in typical UK conditions, with plenty of rain and the occasional cold snap.
- Want winter-rated safety without swapping and storing a second set of tyres.
- Drive a larger SUV, premium saloon or EV that has struggled to find an all-season fitment.
As such, for most UK drivers, the Vector All Season 4 delivers exactly what an all-season tyre should. Dependable safety, whatever the forecast says.
