The Kia EV5 has arrived, promising to shake up the electric car market with its blend of rugged SUV looks, practical design, and cutting-edge tech.
Finally hitting UK shores (in late 2025), the EV5 has come to give Kia lovers an upgrade on the electric-range-leading EV3. And, perhaps, give the VW ID.4 and family-favourite Skoda Enyaq a little wake-up call? Forget range anxiety and cramped cabins, combining practically and fresh tech, the EV5 is set to be the perfect car for summer adventures...and beyond. We’ve dug deeper to find out what makes the EV5 the ideal holiday companion:

Much like the EV9, the new EV5 bares resemblance to the JLR family, or at least the rear-end does. See the side on similarity to the Range Rover Sport. Ideal for anyone wanting that premium image without the pain on their wallet. Following the strong, boxy silhouette to the front, low-level LED lights continue the high-end look. The base model comes on 18- or 19-inch wheels while the EV5 ‘GT-Line’ will be available in 19-inch and the sport EV5 ‘GT’ comes with 20-inch wheels.

When it comes to property purchasing, it’s all about ‘location, location, location’, and it seems to us that the family SUV equivalent would be ‘space, space, space.’ And the EV5 has this in spades. The rear seats fold completely flat, turning the boot into a cavernous 1,650 mm space. Perfect for hauling camping gear, surfboards, or even just a mountain of snacks for those "are we there yet?" moments. From nose to rear, the EV5 measures 4,610mm, just nudging ahead of the Kia Sportage’s 4,515 mm, while backseat head room offers passengers 1.02 m of clearance — plenty for most of us, but promising basketball players might want to call ‘Shotgun’.
The interior is like a lounge on wheels, which is exactly what you want when you're spending hours on the road. Plus, with comfort-focused seats which can include massage functions for the driver, you can even arrive at your destination feeling refreshed.

Range anxiety? Not with the EV5. Featuring a long-range battery pack, it offers plenty of miles on a single charge. Plus, when you do need to juice up, it supports fast charging, 10-80% in 30 mins, meaning less time waiting at charging stations and more time exploring or getting on with the to-do list.
But it doesn't end there. The EV5's bi-directional charging capability turns it into a mobile power bank. Need to inflate an air mattress at the campsite? Want to power up your laptop for a spot of work under the stars? The EV5 has you covered, with the ability to top up external devices directly from the car's battery.
The EV5 is packed with smart tech to keep you connected and entertained on the road. Its connected car navigation system, with live map updates, ensures you're always on the best route. Plus, with its security features, like Digital Key 2.0 and fingerprint recognition, the EV5 has been designed to give you peace of mind.
The EV5 also boasts a suite of advanced driver assistance systems, making long drives safer and more relaxed. Think of it as having an extra pair of eyes on the road, helping you stay safe and stress-free. From Intelligent Speed Limit Assist (ISLA) to Parking Collision-avoidance Assist, this car is seriously clued up.
As of yet, Kia hasn’t finalised UK pricing, but the EV5 is expected to start at £38,000 for the base model. The Kia EV5 looks set to be more than just another electric car. With its focus on space, practicality, and tech, it’s a car designed for real life, for summer adventures, and for making memories on the open road.
So, what do you think? Could the Kia EV5 be your ideal summer adventurer?
