Porsche has crowned its new Cayenne range with its most powerful SUV ever — the Turbo E-Hybrid. It has 739hp from its petrol-electric combo and it’s also Porsche’s most potent ever ICE road car.
Hot on the heels of revealing its third generation Cayenne, Porsche announced the Turbo E-Hybrid that uses a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8. On its own, this motor produces 599hp and it’s helped by a 176hp electric motor to give a joint total of 739hp.
Use the full potential of this hybrid SUV and it will scorch from 0-62mph in 3.7 seconds and hit a 183mph top speed. Or, if you want to swish along using just battery power, the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid covers up to 32 miles on electricity alone.

Those are the numbers for the, ahem, standard car that costs from £130,200, but you can also add the £21,400 GT Package that brings a carbon fibre roof, titanium exhaust, ceramic brakes, unique bodywork, and 0-62mph in only 3.6 seconds. Top speed for the GT Package model also rises to a dizzying 190mph.
Porsche offers the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid in full SUV and Coupe body styles, and the new model comes with its own distinctive body styling. All Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrids have larger front air intakes with gloss black airblades, while colour-coded wheelarch trims mark out this high-performance model. At the back, there are twin brushed stainless steel exhaust pipes, and there are red brake calipers all round.
Inside the Turbo E-Hybrid, you’ll find a heated GT sports steering wheel, leather-covered front sports seats with 18-way electric adjustment, and a Race-Tex roof lining similar to that found in high performance versions of the Porsche 911.
Also standard for the Turbo E-Hybrid is adaptive air suspension that lets the driver choose from various settings between full Comfort and all-out Sport Plus. The GT Package sits the car 10mm lower over its 22-inch wheels, which come with Pirelli tyres as standard. For drivers looking to use the Cayenne Turbo E-Hybrid as a year-round SUV, a tyre such as the Michelin Latitude Sport 3 would also be an ideal alternative.
Like all new Cayennes, the Turbo E-Hybrid comes with the latest all-digital dashboard that gives the interior an up to date look. And the Cayenne remains a practical, large SUV with space for five and a huge boot — just one that happens to have a top speed of 190mph.
