Continental have more than 150 years of tyre-making behind them and are a regular independent test winner, while Davanti have built a following since 2015 by pairing strong EU label ratings with lower prices.
Head-to-head test results and the most popular tyre models from both brands can help you decide which is the better fit for your car and budget.
Continental overview
Founded in Hanover, Germany, in 1871, Continental are one of the world's leading tyre manufacturers and a trusted supplier to car makers across the globe.
In Europe, almost one in three new cars leaves the factory fitted with Continental tyres, with original equipment approvals from brands including Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen and Volvo.
The brand is best known for short braking distances, particularly in the wet. Its tyres regularly finish at or near the top of independent tests – the PremiumContact 6, for example, won the 2022 ADAC summer tyre test.
From efficiency-focused touring tyres to ultra-high-performance options, Continental's range covers almost every car, SUV and van on UK roads.

Continental are one of the best tyre brands you can buy, backed by consistent independent test wins and widespread fitment as original equipment.

They do cost more than budget and mid-range alternatives, but for many drivers the extra grip, refinement and tread life make them worth the investment.

Davanti overview
Davanti Tyres launched in 2015 with the aim of bringing a range of tyres designed and engineered in Britain to the global market.
Based in the North of England, the brand is now sold in more than 80 countries, with 24 tread patterns and over 750 sizes covering cars, SUVs, 4x4s and vans.
Davanti design their tyres in the UK and test them at leading European proving grounds, including their own European Development Centre at Applus IDIADA in Spain.
Production has historically taken place at partner factories in China, although the Protoura Sport Evo, launched in 2025, became the brand's first tyre made in Europe.
Davanti are popular with drivers looking for good EU label ratings and a quiet ride without paying premium prices.
Davanti's tyre range
Davanti's range covers summer, all-season, winter and all-terrain tyres for cars, SUVs, 4x4s and vans.
Their best-known models include the DX390 touring tyre for smaller cars, the DX640 for larger saloons and SUVs, and the Protoura Sport for performance cars.
Davanti say their tyres use enhanced silica compounds to deliver a quiet ride and efficient wet handling. That makes the brand an option for drivers looking for budget tyres that perform to an acceptable standard in everyday conditions.
Are Davanti tyres good?
Davanti tyres are a solid budget option, with good EU label ratings, low noise and a comfortable ride for the price.
In independent testing, they perform respectably for a budget tyre but don't match premium brands for wet braking.
For lower-mileage drivers on a tight budget, Davanti offers good value, but drivers who cover lots of miles in wet weather may benefit from stepping up to a premium tyre.

Wet grip and braking
Wet braking is where the gap is biggest – from around 50 mph, the Davanti needed more than two car lengths of extra distance to stop.
The DX390 did perform well for a budget tyre in the aquaplaning tests, finishing third in both.
Road noise and comfort
Davanti comes out on top for noise, with the DX390 recording the second-lowest pass-by noise of the nine tyres tested.
The tester also found it comfortable on the road, though steering feedback dropped off when pushed hard.
Fuel efficiency
There's very little between them on rolling resistance, with the Continental just ahead.
In day-to-day driving, the difference in fuel use or EV range is likely to be small.
Tread life and mileage
There's no independent mileage test comparing the two brands directly.
Continental design models such as the EcoContact and UltraContact specifically for long tread life, while real-world wear on any tyre depends on your car, driving style and tyre pressures.
Motorway and long-distance driving
For drivers covering big motorway miles, Continental's stability, wet braking and tread life give it the edge.
Davanti's low noise makes it pleasant on long journeys, but the wet braking gap matters more at higher speeds.
Winter and all-season options
Both brands make dedicated winter tyres and all-season tyres.
Continental's AllSeasonContact range has a long record of strong test results, while Davanti's Alltoura is cheaper but finished 27th of 30 in Auto Bild's September 2025 test, failing on braking.
Price and value
Davanti tyres are significantly cheaper than Continental, making them appealing if you need to replace several tyres at once.
Continental costs more upfront, but its performance, especially in the wet, gives you more safety margin for the money.
Davanti or Continental tyres?
Choosing between Davanti and Continental tyres comes down to how much you drive and how much you want to spend.
Continental is the stronger performer, with shorter braking distances – especially in the wet – plus proven tread life and the confidence of a premium brand.
Davanti is a good-value budget alternative, with low noise and a comfortable ride that suits lower-mileage, mostly urban driving.
If you cover lots of motorway miles or regularly drive in wet weather, Continental is worth the extra cost; if you're on a tight budget, Davanti is a sensible choice.
