Michelin have developed the XAS as a classic car tyre designed to deliver precise handling and stability. First introduced in 1965, it was the first tyre to feature an asymmetric tread pattern. Engineered to improve cornering performance by assigning different roles to the inner and outer sections of the tyre.

Michelin XAS tyres are available in 14 inch and 15 inch rim sizes.

Asymmetric Tread Design

The tyre uses an asymmetric tread pattern where the inner and outer sections perform different roles. This design allows the tyre to manage varying forces during driving, particularly when cornering. 

Enhanced Cornering

The tread pattern is engineered to improve stability and road holding during cornering. By optimising how the tyre interacts with the road surface under lateral load, it helps maintain a consistent line through bends. 

Structured Performance Distribution

The tyre is developed to account for the different functions of the shoulders, sidewalls and tread areas. Each part of the tyre contributes to overall performance, working together to improve handling and stability.
