Winter tyres: These are designed for improved performance at temperatures below 7°C. At this temperature the rubber in summer tyres hardens and loses performance whilst the compound of winter tyres remains supple, maintaining grip.
3PMSF (Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake): this symbol can be found on both winter and all season tyres. It shows they have passed rigorous regulatory testing and are suitable for use in winter conditions.
EV approved tyres: electric vehicle (EV) tyres are a category of car tyre that has been developed by several manufacturers to meet the specific requirements of an electric vehicle.
Fuel Efficiency / Rolling Resistance: D Rolling resistance has a direct impact on fuel consumption. A tyre's rolling resistance score ranges from A to E.
Wet Grip / Braking Performance: B A tyre's wet grip capacity is expressed in Grades from A to E. The difference in braking distances between each grade is roughly 3m - an average car length.
Noise Emission / Exterior Noise: 73 dBs, B rating The exterior noise grade of a tyre is expressed in decibels and accompanied by an external rolling noise rating - ranging from A (least exterior noise) to C (highest level of noise).

These are specifically winter tyres. They grab snow and keep it in the tread very well and such get me up quite a steep drive in deep snow. They are quiet and don’t seem to have any negative impact on economy. I don’t use them once the temperature is above 9 degrees generally so cannot to speak to warm weather performance. They are winter tyres not all season.
Tyre review for Continental WinterContact TS850 P SUV 255/50 R20 H
The tyres are exactly what I was expecting. Top notch performance in cold weather. They replaced an OEM set of all-season SUV tyres and the difference in feel and grip on the ice we've recently had is great. Car feels much more secure. The difference in grip is even more pronounced when comparing to my other car with High Performance Summer Tyres on (Continental SportContact 5). In one situation we drove the 2 family cars in convoy for a return trip (same road/route/conditions). The car with the summer tyres would wheel-spin in 3rd gear if I put my foot down whereas the car with the winter tyres never lost traction. Very impressed and highly recommended. So much so that I just bought a second set of wheels to always have a set of winter tyres available going forward.
