Are reinforced tyres the same as run flats tyres?

No, reinforced tyres and run flat tyres are two different types of tyres. Although they have similar sounding name, they have been developed for different purposes.

Both tyre categories have been designed to be more durable than standard tyres, there are important differences.

Run flat tyres are engineered so that a vehicle can continue to drive safely after a puncture or sudden loss of air pressure. Although you do need to reduce your speed to 50mph and travel not further than 50 miles once a puncture has occurred.

Reinforced tyres have been developed to deliver greater levels of durability. They have been engineered for use on heavy duty vehicles or commercial vehicles.

While both run flat and reinforced tyres offer improved safety compared to standard tyres, it's important to select the appropriate type for your vehicle.
