Whenever possible the best course of action is to arrive to your MOT appointment at least 10 minutes before it is due to start.
If you are late to an MOT and have not been able to cancel or move the appointment you run the risk of the test not taking place. In an instance like this you will have lost the MOT fee, plus you will need to book in a new appointment – and have to pay the fee once again.
Most of the time, an MOT test should not be affected by bad weather conditions.
However, in exceptional circumstances, if the weather is so bad you are unable to make the appointment, you should contact the customer service team at the place you have booked the MOT. In instances like this where it is not possible to travel to the test you can have it rescheduled at no additional cost.
Should you not turn up for your MOT test at all, the DVSA’s policy on the matter is your payment is forfeit and you will need to pay and book again.
