TVR Tyres Test

TVR has historically been a yuppies weekend plaything. However in recent years it has been reestablished as a real performance car contender, cementing its place in performance car history with the launch of its Tuscan model. We have had a look at what tyres TVR give you, and have made some alternative suggestions on replacements (www.tvr.com).

Black Circles stock complete ranges in TVR tyres to suit your vehicle and your driving style. Contact our customer services team for impartial advice on 0845 200 0022.

TVR Chimera – 225/55 R16 ZR Bridgestone RE71

The Chimera carries a reputation of all brawn and not lots of brains. We understand this sentiment and it is not a criticism. The Chimera drives like a proper raw performance car. With limited luxury and maximum noise pollution the Chimera offers a proper driving experience. We queried the tyre option on the TVR Chimera as the Bridgestone RE71 offers limited performance capacity. We would like to offer the value of our experience on this matter and see a move to a directional tyre pattern as sensible if you want to optimize the drive quality – after all that is why you bought the car. Therefore our recommendations are – Goodyear GSD3 Eagle F1, Avon ZZ3 and if you are watching the cash the Falken ZE512 is a good option but isn’t a directional tyre.

TVR Tuscan – 235/35 R18 Z Front and 255/35 R18 Z Rear Bridgestone S02

We love the TVR Tuscan. This is the first TVR with proper about-town quality, a real head turner. The Bridgestone S02 original equipment choice for this car is no longer with us though. This is one of the worst moves in tyre history (in our opinion). The Bridgestone S02 had been the performance tyre that all muscle cars wanted to be associated with. The first directional winner, cut short in the prime of its life and replaced by its more mature and boring older brother, the Bridgestone S03. Since it cut production of the Bridgestone S02 the performance car industry has turned its attention to the only tyre that gets close to its looks and performance, the Toyo Proxes T1-R. We agree with the industry and that is why we recommend the Toyo T1-R.

Special Offers

Blackcircles constantly offer excellent deals across a range of different tyre sizes, so please check our latest tyre deals on our Special Offers page. Do you know that on some vehicles it is possible to fit a different brand of tyre from what is currently on the car, you may find a different brand suits your budget and driving style better – so it’s always worth investigating. However some vehicle manufacturers do recommend that you keep the same brand of tyres that originally came on the vehicle as they have worked with the tyre manufacturers to develop vehicle specific fitments to improve the vehicle’s performance.

If you are at all unsure whether you can change brand, please call our customer service team on 0845 200 0022 who will be able to let you know whether there are any alternative brands for your vehicle. Don’t forget that Blackcircles remain independent and we pride ourselves on offering our customers impartial advice on tyres.special.gif
