Toyota Tyres Test

Toyota is one of the biggest vehicle manufacturers in the world. We have had a look at what tyres Toyota give you, and have made some alternative suggestions on replacements (www.toyota.com).

Black Circles stock complete ranges in Toyota tyres to suit your vehicle and your driving style. Contact our customer sevice team for impartial advice on 0845 200 0022.

Toyota Yaris – 175/65 14T Bridgestone ER30

The new Yaris has been hailed by many as the best small car available at the moment. There is excellent internal cabin space and for a small car the storage space available is second to none. The reduction in the wheel base does make town driving slightly bouncy and as such the correct tyres are required to provide comfort throughout journey. An option for the Yaris would be to fit a Pirelli P3000 energy a tyre designed to work with the car and provide excellent fuel economy. Also a Michelin E3A would complement this vehicle and should ensure a pleasurable driving experience.

Small car in supermini class. Reviews say it’s spacious but not as good in refinement and handling as others in class

Toyota Corolla – 175/65 14 T, Bridgestone ER30

The Corolla is one of the most popular family cars in the world. It has a reputation for reliability and dependability that is second to none. The new Corolla is no exception; it drives well and has option levels to suit every pocket. It has also got levels of safety equipment that put larger cars to shame. The family nature of this car means it is tuned to provide maximum comfort and safety and as such the tyres should reflect this. The Continental Eco Contact tyre will tick all the boxes as would the Pirelli P6000. Both these tyres are favorites in the Original Equipment market and as such have excellent grip handling and noise characteristics.

Corolla

Mid range car aimed at people with busy, varied lifestyles. Available in hatchback or saloon version. Reviews call it a mid range “Plodder” with bland styling

Toyota Avensis – 205/55 16 V, Bridgestone ER30

The new Avensis is a credible entry into the company car market but it is also well enough built and equipped to provide an excellent family car for the general public. As most of its life will be spent on motorway journeys, the suspension has been tuned for comfort and the tyres need to reflect this by providing a smooth quiet ride to the occupants. Alternatives to the Bridgestone tyre would be firstly the Michelin Primacy or the Pirelli P6000 Powergy, both these tyres are aimed at the comfort market but will be sure footed enough in the wet to provide the driver with confidence in the tyre.

Avensis

Quality executive car with premium styling. Spacious, safe and refined. Considered a good fleet car for business use

However some vehicle manufacturers do recommend that you keep the same brand of tyres that originally came on the vehicle as they have worked with the tyre manufacturers to develop vehicle specific fitments to improve the vehicle’s performance.

If you are at all unsure whether you can change brand, please call our customer service team on 0845 200 0022 who will be able to let you know whether there are any alternative brands for your vehicle.
