Goodyear's UltraGrip Performance 3: A New Era in Winter Tyres

This year Goodyear launched the UltraGrip Performance 3, and with it new winter tyre technology.

This new winter tyre from Goodyear looks to be a significant step forward in performance and innovation – with a meticulously designed overall product to meet the everchanging needs of drivers.

Market Demand Shifts

Over the last 5-10 years, larger, heavier and more powerful vehicles, such as SUVs and electric cars, have cemented their popularity amongst motorists.

Goodyear’s long-term aim stated when the new UltraGrip Performance 3 when they announced the launch was to replace the UltraGrip 9+ and UltraGrip Performance+ - to simplify their winter tyre portfolio.

Performance-Driven Innovation

During development, Goodyear asked real motorists – via Buzzback – what their key expectations were for winter tyres. The answers that came back were the ability to perform effectively in all winter conditions – i.e. on snow, wet, and dry roads.

Based upon this feedback and building upon the success of its predecessors, the UltraGrip Performance 3 has been designed to boasts an even more balanced winter performance.

Leading Technologies for Superior Performance

The UltraGrip Performance 3 comes with a number of innovative features to set new benchmarks in its performance.

In independent tests by the TUEV Sued, this tyre outperformed four premium competitors in snow handling, wet braking, and dry braking.

The tyre has been engineered with Goodyear’s Snow Protect Technology – to offer increased sipe density for optimal traction and grip on snow and ice.

The use of 'Snow claws' provide enhanced performance on soft and deep snow, making it ideal for diverse winter terrains.

Wet Grip+ Technology optimizes water dispersion, reducing the risk of aquaplaning and delivering exceptional performance in wet driving conditions. Innovative 3D sipes in the shoulder area increase tyre stiffness and enhance dry road performance.

EV-Ready and Eco-Friendly

With environmental issues become more and more prevalent, the UltraGrip Performance 3 has been designed to meet the unique needs of electric vehicles. It reduces rolling resistance by up to 3% and tyre weight by up to 10%, making it highly efficient.

On top of this, the tyre has been designed with a noise-cancelling tread pattern design -  which has been proven to reduce interior noise by up to 36%, creating a quieter driving experience for the driver.

The tyre's wear-resistant tread compound is engineered to withstand the extreme torque of electric cars, offering stability and durability.

Available For A Range of Vehicles

Compatible with a range of top vehicles such as the Alfa Romeo Giulia, Audi A6/S6, BMW i4 M50, and many more, the UltraGrip Performance 3 stands out as a good choice for those seeking winter tyre performances.
