Role Profile

Blackcircles.com is currently seeking to appoint a Head of Design and UX as part of the business’s next phase of growth. Working closely with the CMO this person will play a key role in the creation and implementation of key digital design, user experience and digital communications projects, cementing Blackcircles.com as the leading online provider of choice for motorists.

The ideal candidate for this role will be an experienced creative and innovative individual with a proven track record in conceptualising and delivering creative design projects with create seamless digital user journeys with the confidence to justify their design decisions using knowledge, data and insight. They will be able to work closely with technical teams to ensure designs are translated accurately into a live environment.

The individual will constantly look for new and innovative ways to ensure Blackcirlces.com is at the forefront of digital design, UX, content and media creation in the UK.

Key Skills and Responsibilities:

• Excellent Design and UX skills to create the perfect blend of aesthetics and ease of use
• Use customer-centric design to create simple and intuitive consumer journeys
• Provide Creative and managerial leadership of a growing team of internal designers and agency partners.
• Collaborate closely with technical teams to ensure a seamless transition from design to fulfilment.
• Work on a variety of different projects with the ability to prioritise between large scale strategic thinking and focused design work.
• Lead or participating in the early conceptualisation phase of new digital products.
• Understand the best design and creative process – combining visual/ graphic design and user experience design in order to create the best customer experience.
• Understand and call on different schools of thought when it comes to project methodologies and design direction.
• Work closely with the project teams to plan, manage and deliver world-class digital experiences
• Communicate with clarity and confidence when interacting with other members of the team and senior stakeholders

Key Personal Criteria:

• Focus on being a coach and mentor for direct reports
• Previous experience in a management level digital design role
• Experience of establishing and leading product design, development and management functions
• Ideally educated to degree level
• Experience of working across a range of design product processes and platforms
• A high level of attention to quality, detail and accuracy is required
• Experience of managing stakeholders and prioritising decisions
• Confident to work from own initiative
• Proactive attitude
• Experience of managing internal teams and external design resources
• Track record of day-to-day delivery capability in a fast paced and autonomous environment. B2C experience would therefore be advantageous but is not a prerequisite.
• Ability to adapt to an ever-changing environment and prioritise workflows when ad hoc tasks are introduced.
