Some tyres are designed for specific driving conditions or vehicle types. This section of the search filter makes it easy for customers to filter out the tyres that are not relevant to their search.
For example, if a customer is looking for tyres designed specifially for use in winter driving conditions, they can filter their search results so that only winter tyres are displayed.
Special fitments include:
Run-flat tyres: these have heavily reinforced sidewalls and are designed to carry on performing after a tyre suffers a puncture. Run-flats are designed to run for short distances and should be replaced as soon as possible.
Extra Load or Reinforced tyres: these tyres are designed with a stronger sidewall, making them capable of handling more weight than your average tyre. Typically, they are classified by the letters 'XL' on the sidewall.
Winter tyres: these are designed for improved performance at temperatures below 7°C. At this temperature the rubber in summer tyres hardens and loses performance whilst the compound of winter tyres remains supple, maintaining grip.
4x4 tyres: tyres that have been specifically designed for fitment and use on 4 wheel drive vehicles.
Car tyres: these tyres have been specifically designed for fitment and use on cars.
Motorcycle tyres: these tyres have been specifically designed for fitment and use on motorcycles.
Van tyres: these tyres have been specifically designed for fitment and use on vans.
