Toyo Tire USA Packs A Punch

You better be careful about what you say about Toyo tyres from now on. For the US branch of the company - Toyo Tire USA - has just released a statement confirming that they are sponsoring Ultimate Fighting Championship Lightweight division fighter, Anthony “Showtime” Pettis.

Talking of the new sponsorship deal, Pettis said, “I am proud to represent Toyo Tires. Toyo has always been a major supporter of mixed martial arts and I am honoured that they have selected me as an ambassador of their brand.”

Anthony Pettis originally hails from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and is considered by many within the UFC organisation to be a top contender for the UFC Lightweight Championship over the coming year. At present his fight record is a very impressive 11-1-0 (that’s wins-losses-draws).

Standing at 5’ 9” and weighing in at 155lb, Pettis holds a third degree black belt in the martial art Taekwondo. He has also studied (and uses) Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai to complete an impressive arsenal of fighting styles.

He made his professional debut as a MMA fighter back in December 2007 and went on a 7 match unbeaten run. Before fighting within the UFC, Pettis spent over a year fighting in the World Extreme Cagefighting Leagues (WEC).

As part of the new deal, the Toyo Tires logo will feature on the shorts Pettis wears during fights. On top of this, Pettis is expected to further promote the brand through marketing campaigns and personal appearances.

The Manager of events and motorsports for the Toyo Tire USA Corp, Stan Chen, was elated with the new sponsorship deal. He has been quoted on Typress.com as saying, “we are excited to have Anthony Pettis as one of our Team Toyo Athletes for 2011.

“Pettis is a great personality in the sport of mixed martial arts and is a top contender for the UFC lightweight championship.”
