The Inbetweeners' Car Sold For Charity
The famous (or perhaps infamous may be a better turn of phrase in this instance) car from the hit, channel four comedy series, The Inbetweeners, was recently sold on auction site eBay for the mighty sum of £21,100.00. What is even more impressive is that bidding started at a lowly £50!#
The seller, Comic Relief, was donated the car after it retired from showbiz.
On the eBay page, Comic Relief said, “This is the genuine article! Not only the actual car featured in the hit TV show, but it's the vehicle responsible for getting the four boys to some of the rudest place names in the UK.
“SO BID NOW!!! You'll impress your friends with this unique motor, Comic Relief will spend ALL the money you bid on life-changing projects, and the sun will shine. (That last bit about the sun might not be true).”
Now, those who were tempted to bid to own the yellow (with one red door) Fiat Cinquecento, with an engine size of 899 cc, were all too aware of the vehicle’s colourful - if not mostly fictional - past.
The Q&A section of the bidding page was a good indication of that with questions including, “Is this item water damaged?” and “Was the interior cleaned after Neil's evening in the Caravan Park?”
Nevertheless, bidders saw past the potential negatives and before the virtual hammer fell the car received an impressive 74 bids.
So, well done (or maybe commiserations) to whoever the winning bidder was. You now own a piece of British TV history.
