Like Steve McQueen, All I Need's a Fast Machine
Fans of classic movies and motoring racing alike will be interested to hear that the Porsche 911 driven by the legendary Steve McQueen, is set to being auctioned in the annual Monterey sale.
The iconic car was driven by Michael Delaney (played by McQueen) in the 1971 film Le Mans.
However, not only did the beautiful piece of machinery appear in the movie, but was in fact owned by Steve McQueen – who used it as his own personal form of transport whilst the film was being produced, before returning with it to the USA.
Rob Myers, Chairman and Founder of RM Auctions, the company organising the auction, was quoted in the Telegraph as saying, "there is no more iconic racing film than Le Mans and no more charismatic owner of many of the world's great sports cars than Steve McQueen,"
"We are delighted to have been selected to present this iconic car at our upcoming Monterey sale. Combining a well-documented history with an exciting celebrity and screen provenance, it will make for a valuable addition to any notable car collection."
At Blackcircles.com, we're big fans of Steve McQueen so we will be following the news closely...
