Stay Safe on the Roads in the New Year
The Institute for Advanced Motorists (IAM) has released advice which is designed to help motorists stay safe on the roads, now that a new plague of potholes is sweeping across the UK.
Of course road safety is important all year round, but with this new generation of potholes causing roads of become uneven, vigilance to the dangers of the road must be at a high.
Some of the tips to come out from the IAM include leaving enough space in between the car in front. This gives motorists the chance to see more of the road and therefore gives them enough time to avoid – if it is safe to do so (ie there is no traffic on the other side or motorcycles trying to overtake etc) – any potholes or even sections of road.
The IAM Director of Policy and Research, Neil Greig, was quoted as saying "Anticipation, planning and good forward vision will help you spot that lethal pothole and help avoid unwanted extra bills for new tyres and wheels."
