Great time to buy as high street gets competitive

Fierce competition for high street sales will give consumers more than holidays and a wedding to smile about this Easter according to Michael Welch, Managing Director of Blackcicles.com.

His comments follow a new initiative from Blackcirles.com that will help consumers insulate themselves against future rises in the cost of running their car.

Until the end of April, Blackcircles.com will beat any high street tyre price and store the customer’s tyres for free until the end of the year.

The move comes against a backdrop of rising motoring costs. In addition to the rising price of fuel, a prolonged monsoon period in Thailand, the world’s largest rubber producer, has created a global shortage resulting in increasing tyres prices.

Such shortages need not spell doom and gloom for shoppers according to Michael, who lead the joint venture that saw the launch of Tesco Tyres in December.

The latest official figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that retail sales unexpectedly grew by 0.2% last month.

Michael said: "The rising cost of living has been putting consumers under huge pressure but the flip side is that it is making the high street fight all the harder for a share of customer spend."

"Not only is it the latest weekend since 1943 but for the first time ever, two four-day weekends follow each. Coupled with the predicted good weather it could be good news for the high street and particularly for shoppers who should expect some good deals."

Easter promotion is intended to not only give a good deal to consumers during the holidays but help them manage their motoring costs for the rest of the year and avoid the rising cost of tyres."
