For Hankook the Future is Green
The vice president of Hankook has recently made his thoughts clear on where the Korean Tyre Manufacturer will focus their efforts over the coming years. According to Pae Ho-youl, the buzzword in the tyre industry quickly becoming 'green tyres' and will be a key area of development for some time to come. It is because of this, that a considerable investment into the development of enviromentally friendly tyres has been started by Hankook Tyres.
Tyrepress.com recently reported that Pae been interviews by the Korea Times newspaper and told the paper that Hankook had in the past poured twenty billion won a year into the research and development that produced the Hankook enfren environmental tyre.
Hankook Tire’s vice president, Pae Ho-youl, said in a recent statement, “Prior to a couple of years ago, consumers put their top priority on durability and wear-and-tear, but recently eco-friendliness has become a major factor in the selection of tyres.
“Eco-friendly products have been the focal point of all industries as well as the tyre sector. Social responsibility for the environment has been a factor of corporate competitiveness, and providing an eco-friendly and fuel-efficient commodity has emerged as the global trend in the area.”
In the same interview with the Korea Times, Pae also told the reporter that the company highly anticipates that they will be in the world’s top five tyre manufacturers that by 2014.
Typress.com also revealed that in this same year – 2014 - Hankook expect the proportion of their sales outside of Korea to increase from 70% to 80%.
