Thousands Of Old Tyres Go Up In Flames
A massive tyre fire broke out in Doncaster, England this morning. It is believed that the thousand or so tyres that have been engulfed in the blaze could burn for days if not dealt with properly.
Residents in the area have been informed by police to keep windows and doors closed as the smoke cloud spreads throughout the area.
The fire was reported at around 4:30am this morning with fire crew being called to a waste recycle centre at Skelbrooke Quarry on Wakefield Road.
It has been reported by local Yorkshire press that at present there are 30 fire fighters currently tackling the inferno with five high power water jets, along with a pump which is capable of expelling 8,000 litres of water every minute.
Fire service group manager, Dick Hutton said: "This is a deep-seated fire and we are expecting to be here for days rather than hours.
"Because of the amount of smoke in the area we would advise local residents to keep their doors and windows closed as a safety precaution."
