Ford Award for Michelin
“And the award goes to... Michelin!”
We don’t know if that was exactly how it happened, but what is certain is that Michelin received a Ford World Excellence Award for its efforts with the car manufacturer in 2009.
The global awards are given out as a way to recognise which Ford suppliers have exceeded in the expected standards of quality, cost and delivery set out by the car manufacturer.
The tyres that helped Michelin to land the award were the Energy Saver A/S low rolling resistance tyres that were fitted as original equipment (OE) tyres on the Ford Fusion.
Michelin North America’s vice president for OE marketing, John Moloney said, “We put a high priority on meeting the needs – and exceeding the expectations of – our customers, and it is wonderful to be recognized by Ford for this achievement.
In the case of the Ford Fusion, we looked at various materials, construction and manufacturing solutions while continuously pushing the envelope to help Ford achieve its overall fuel-efficiency goals. It is projects like this that truly accelerate progress.”
