Top European Car Companies Supplied by Bridgestone
On the back of the latest Original Equipment (OE) agreements set up by Bridgestone, the tyre manufacturer now claims that it is a supplier to every single one of Europe’s top car companies. Their latest OE deals have seen the first Citroën OEM for over seventy years to come without Michelin tyres, as well as a number of Ecopia fittings across the car sector.
It is thanks to these new Ecopia fitment agreements – which include a number of Mercedes-Benz models, the Skoda Octavia, the Toyota Avensis and Vauxhall/Opel Insignia -that Bridgestone’s influence over the European car market covers every sector, from expensive luxury models to small town cars.
The vice president of Original Equipment sales at Bridgestone Europe, Didier Schneider, had this to say about the successful acquisition of the new Ecopia OE agreements, “all car manufacturers are reducing the CO2 emissions from their models, and one of the ways to do it is by fitting low rolling resistance tyres. Bridgestone tyres with ECOPIA technology are an important contribution to a sustainable environment".
Understandably, Bridgestone are extremely pleased to have broken Michelin’s dominance as an OE to Citroën – a deal which has been in place since before the Second World War. Commenting on the coup, Didier Schneider said, “Expanding our business with French car manufacturers and a top European player like Citroën strengthens our position as a global player.”
