New Eco-Friendly Tyre from Pirelli
Pirelli recently launched its latest eco-friendly tyre. The Scorpion Verde has been developed, according to the tyre manufacturer, to try and fill a gap in the 4x4 market. Pirelli feel that there is an ever-increasing need for fuel efficient 4x4 tyres.
According to the company the Scorpion Verde “boasts greatly improved rolling resistance from previous high performance SUV offerings, making it the first high-performance eco tyre for vehicles with the highest environmental impact – SUVs and Crossovers.”
The tyre has also been designed to be lighter than other than their previous 4x4 tyres as well as lasting longer. It is said to use “10% fewer raw materials, therefore reducing its environmental impact”.
The tyre will be original equipment for Volkswagen’s Touareg and will be available on the replacement market as early as April 2010.
Pirelli have now claimed that with the production of the Scorpion Verder they have completed their planned range of Scorpion tyres. The range already includes the ATR and the Scorpion Zero. Which have all received high kudos from within the 4x4 community over the past couple of years.
