Acorn Training Academy Expands With State Of The Art Facility

You might recall that in June we announced the news that we have just started a two year sponsorship of the Acorn Training Academy in Liverpool. Well, a month on and there is the news that the Acorn Training Academy is set to expand.

On Monday the 12th July a new state of the art Motor Mechanics Super Centre in Aintree - for 16 to 19 year olds as well as for adult training – is due to open.

The new building – the Acorn Trading Academy 2 – opens in association with the National Construction Academy in a bid to try and fill the huge gap for motor mechanics and auto technicians in the Liverpool area. At present there is an estimated shortage of over 100,000 qualified auto technicians within the UK, so this new expansion and initiative is set help plug the gap over the coming years.

Natalie Moore from National Construction Academy commented,”We are known for construction, painting & decorating, plastering and so on but when it came to doing Motor Vehicle we only had one partner in mind and that was Acorn Training Academy. After seeing firsthand the links and relationships they have with students and also the world of work we were keen to forge this partnership to deliver a quality service with excellent facilities.”

The new centre has been built in Barclays Business Park in Aintree. It not only includes some of most up to date and state of the art technology, cars and equipment but also has some facilities, which will no doubt make the students want to stay long after lessons are over. This is because, as well as an onsite canteen, the students can enjoy a purpose built indoor 5-a-side football pitch.

With only a limited number of student placements on offer, it is a great chance for young people in the Aintree area to gain a fantastic qualification (a BTEC Level 1 and Level 2 in Motor Vehicle for example) and the potential of placements after they complete their course.

Gary Bond, Acorn Training Academy, Managing Director commented, “We can now offer 2 centres for students to work in as well as adults at the Aintree site. We have seen already that the demand through schemes like response to redundancy for motor vehicle is high, so we want to offer those who want to move forward or indeed into this industry the chance to do so.

"We also now have the opportunity for our 14-16 year olds to move onto higher levels of courses which will hopefully lead to placements with our national sponsor Blackcircles.com."
