Dunlop to Continue As Control Tyre Supplier For The Australian Superbike Championship
Today Dunlop Tyres proudly announced that for a further three seasons, they are going to be the control tyre supplier for the Australian Superbike Championship. This is a role the tyre manufacturer has found itself in for the past two years.
During the statement announcing the continuation of the contract, Ken Wieden, Dunlop’s motorcycle and motorsports National Manager said, “we at Dunlop are excited with this announcement and are proud to be appointed this tender, this was an important contract for us and our distributors to win.
"Dunlop has always been seriously involved in racing and to be awarded this contract means we can continue our association with the nation’s premier championship series,” Ken Wieden then went on to say that, "racing means many things for us [Dunlop Tyres], from product development to promoting the brand image to sales. We believe in our product and all at Dunlop are avid motorcycle racing fans. We are proud to be associated with (championship organiser) IEG & the ASBK and look forward to an exciting championship series in 2010 and the years to follow”.
Securing the illustrious contract was not easy. Not only did the potential tyre suppliers need to produce and provide a tyre that was of the highest quality, they also had to demonstrate their dedication and commitment to racing and the championship.
International Entertainment Group director John Naggar said, “Dunlop’s proposal provided everything the championship required and their proven track record under pinned everything they put forward”. He then continued by saying, “the tender Dunlop put forward displayed an equal concern for performance and costing. I can confidently say that riders will be happy with Dunlop’s contingency plan and pricing.”
