Power Pure – The Lightest Sports Motorbike Tyre
Michelin have released, according to studies done by the French Tyre manufacturer, the lightest sports motorbike tyre to date – the Power Pure. In order to prove the claim, Michelin compared the Power Pure in sizes 120/70 ZR 17 and 190/50 ZR 17 with its leading competitors in the same class. The results were that the Power Pure weighed (on average) an impressive two pounds lighter compared to the other tyres – which have remained unnamed.
When announcing the launch of the new tyre, a spokesperson for the company said that the tyres “offer unmatched handling with greater responsiveness and enhanced riding pleasure”. This is, in part, thanks to the lighter weight of the tyres. However the tyre also boasts a wider soft layout of runner along the shoulders of the tyre, which offers a lot more traction when out on the road.
The Power Pure is set to replace the celebrated Pilot Power 2CT, so has quite a bit to live up to. However, by the looks of it this challenge is one the Michelin Power Pure will be more than ready to take on.
